In general, the downtown area of halifax is busy with businesses,cafes,restaurants,and clubs. Many of the popular fast food outlets are noticeably absent but surely within driving distance or a nice long walk from the downtown core. The ones you will find are; Subway is located close to Lwr Water st., a downtown location, as well KFC has a location on Spring Garden Rd, both eat-in and delivery available, Dairy Queen,also located on Spring Garden Rd. The downtown areas also has museums and interesting public interest spots to visit. The news outlet CBC is located in the downtown Spring Garden Rd area. Two popular parks are here as well Point Pleasant Park,and Public Gardens.


The Chateau Halifax- is located adjacent and is connected to Scotia Square, downtown's only shopping mall. This well known hotel is located within walking distance of several site-seeing spots, including The Sheraton Casino,the Waterfront,Citadel Hill to name a few.
As well its very close to all the popular nite clubs which are literally jam packed into a few blocks, all easily accessible from each other.

Delta BarringtonThis fine hotel is located directly on Barrington St., actually just across the street from the downtown shopping mall Scotia Square. Around the block from here on the opposite side of the hotel is the Sheraton Casino, and waterfront. Actually in staying here, you are literally a step away from the casino, as both premises reside within the same complex; located directly overlooking the waterfront on Upper Water St. There is definitely a feeling of excitement entering through their front doors upon hearing those bells and slot machines playing away. A very spacious lobby gives way to the front desk on your left, and the casino entrance directly straight ahead from there. Prince George This classy hotel is located one street down from Brunswick st., directly next to the Metro Centre. It basically takes up one block within the downtown core. Very close to the Citadel Hill,about 3 blocks from Spring Garden Road area, and within walking distance of many of the downtown shops,eateries,night clubs and tourist spots;including a short 5-10 min walk to the waterfront activities.
